Eagles Ranked 2nd in Conference, 10th in State!

As we reach the mid-point of the 2010 conference schedule, the Eagles continue to set new school records in soccer achievements.  Three weeks ago they were ranked as high as #9 in the State by the North Carolina Soccer Coach's Association (NCSCA) .  They slipped to 10th in the State two weeks ago, after suffering their first loss of the season to conference leading and former 2009 Eastern Conference runner-up, Jacksonville.  The next week saw them remain at #10 in the State with a tie with West Carteret.  Last week the Eagles tied White Oak and lost two starters in the process, Joe Valdez to injury and goal scoring leader Jaime Cortes to an ejection from the aftermath of the violent play on Valdez.  The Eagles managed another win over South Central this past Thursday, without the services of Valdez and Cortes, and they increased their conference record to 4-1-2 to remain alone in 2nd place, a game and a half behind Jacksonville.  The Eagles' 12-1-2 overall record is a new school record and their 93 goals is 4 more than last year's record setting achievement of 89 goals.  The Eagles have only made the play-offs once in the school's history, with the Boy's 2008 team, led by Senior Dustin Steele, making it to the play-offs as a wild card team.  This season the Eagles have their sites set on another post season!
