WCHS 2009 Summer Soccer Clinic

Posted Wednesday, June 03, 2009 by Aaron Steele

Hi everyone,

This is Aaron Steele, head soccer coach and art teacher at West Craven High School (GO EAGLES!). For the past 4 years, our soccer program has been growing and we are determined to continue that success for the future of our program. In order to do that, we are trying to reach out to our younger audience and future West Craven soccer stars by holding a 5-day camp where they can become familiar with the game of soccer. We are looking for kids with a minimum age of 6 and they will be grouped according to the age levels that sign up. The players currently in 7th and 8th grade, will be moved up to the high school camp where they would get much more acquianted to the high school level of play.

Cost for the junior camp is $75 dollars (yes only $75 dollars!) and it includes 15 hours of intruction (3 hours a day for 5 days) and their own ball to use and keep for the camp. Players will receive instruction from the high school soccer coaches and several players from the men's and women's soccer teams here at the West Craven High School. Camp would begin on Monday, July 6th through Friday, July 10th, beginning at 11:30am sharp and end at 2:30pm at West Craven High School's soccer training area.

Cost for the High School-level camp (including 7th and 8th graders) is $100 dollars and it includes 15 hours of instruction (3 hours a day for 5 days), and a camp t-shirt. Players will receive instruction mainly from our London-based camp coaches, Luke Oakley and Tom Sharpe. Luke and Tom are well-experienced players (currently players for North Carolina - Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount) and coaches (currently hold FIFA referee class-B licenses) who teach camps along the East Coast of the United States; from North Carolina, West Virginia, and Virginia. Camp would begin on Monday, July 6th through Friday, July 10th, beginning at 3:30pm sharp and end at 6:30pm at West Craven High School's soccer training area.

We encourage all players to be dressed in athletic attire for the hot weather (t-shirt and shorts) and soccer attire (soccer cleats and shinguards). We will have facilities for players to use the bathroom or use the locker rooms to change before and after the camp. Players must bring their own water bottles for easy access, but we will have a cooler as well for the players during breaks.

You may pick up a brochure / registration form at West Craven High School (see Coach Steele or pick one up at the front office). All checks should be made payable to Dana Steele. All orders need to be in by Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 and mailed to:
